As I, along with my family, am going through this journey, God is constantly at work in my life. The areas needing work are great in number, I admit. I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I sin. I'm selfish. I'm prideful. I'm fearful. I want to be in control. These things are not prevalent every waking moment, but they do exist.
The biggest area in my life that God is working is in this area of control. Sometimes we can tell ourselves how holy we are by our words, but our actions and thoughts are screaming the opposite. The past few weeks, I have had the common struggle of wanting God to be in control with me telling Him what to do while He is in control (kinda stupid, I know). I have wanted God to do things in order to make me look good or something like that. But, what He has shown me through the assistance of family and friends is that I am the one exhausting myself, not God. GOD IS IN CONTROL! One simple test to make sure of that is, make your heart stop for 5 seconds. Do you know exactly what will happen tomorrow (Every step, every word, etc)? There are many other tests you could try. But, I think you should be getting the point. It is always too easy to assume that the world revolves around ourselves. That's just being human. But we know in our heads, that the world doesn't stop or move when we desire it to. People don't sit and wait for us to tell them what to do, how to act, or what to feel. Sometimes, the obvious is so easy to forget. I wanted to share with you that God is PERFECT in ALL His ways. His timing is perfect! His will is perfect! His purposes are perfect! He is perfect, righteous, holy, and sovereign! The challenge for my little "pea" brain is to remember this and LIVE in it. When I want what I want, I must confess, repent, and remember that God reigns in my life (and in the world, too).
