Well, we have been home now since Friday night. We had a long trip between Georgia and Tennessee. We spent the last week of June in Augusta, GA, then came home for a few days and then back out to north Georgia and southeast Tennessee. We met with a lot of folks! It was great to meet new people and rekindle some old friendships! The Lord only knows who will partner with us as financial partners, but a lot of folks have signed up as prayer partners.
We are grateful for our family hosting us as we do all these travels! We are back in Charlotte now for the time being. If the Lord opens doors for us to share (anywhere), we will go. If you read this, please know that if the Lord opens an opportunity near you and put us on your heart and mind, please feel free to contact us.
As of right now, we have been told by our co-laborers in Indiana to not stress out about being at Purdue before the school year starts. They have encouraged us to come when the Lord opens the door and provides. We still need our support level to be at least 65% and our home to sell. We serve a God who knows what is going on and is in control!
As I, along with my family, am going through this journey, God is constantly at work in my life. The areas needing work are great in number, I admit. I am not perfect by any stretch of the imagination. I sin. I'm selfish. I'm prideful. I'm fearful. I want to be in control. These things are not prevalent every waking moment, but they do exist.
The biggest area in my life that God is working is in this area of control. Sometimes we can tell ourselves how holy we are by our words, but our actions and thoughts are screaming the opposite. The past few weeks, I have had the common struggle of wanting God to be in control with me telling Him what to do while He is in control (kinda stupid, I know). I have wanted God to do things in order to make me look good or something like that. But, what He has shown me through the assistance of family and friends is that I am the one exhausting myself, not God. GOD IS IN CONTROL! One simple test to make sure of that is, make your heart stop for 5 seconds. Do you know exactly what will happen tomorrow (Every step, every word, etc)? There are many other tests you could try. But, I think you should be getting the point.
It is always too easy to assume that the world revolves around ourselves. That's just being human. But we know in our heads, that the world doesn't stop or move when we desire it to. People don't sit and wait for us to tell them what to do, how to act, or what to feel. Sometimes, the obvious is so easy to forget.
I wanted to share with you that God is PERFECT in ALL His ways. His timing is perfect! His will is perfect! His purposes are perfect! He is perfect, righteous, holy, and sovereign! The challenge for my little "pea" brain is to remember this and LIVE in it. When I want what I want, I must confess, repent, and remember that God reigns in my life (and in the world, too).
So, should we expect miracles in this day and age?
The idea of miracles is a controversial topic at worst and a mystery at best! We don't know how to treat the issue of miracles. Sometimes man's desire to "see" a miracle causes him to only look for the miracle and not at the One who does the miracle. Whereas there are others who's humanistic Christianity won't allow them to see a miracle because they will look to "disprove" the miracle without thinking twice. The problem here is the issue of doubt in the Creator of the universe.
So, I'm going to share with you in my own words.
My family and I are in need of some miracles! My declaration of that means that we need the God of Heaven to do some things that ONLY He can do! He may use ordinary means and ordinary people, but they will be used to do something to bring GLORY to His Name! In our circumstance, we need Him to provide additional support in a short amount of time as well as provide the buyer for our home. To some, they may see this as no big deal, especially to say that we are expecting a miracle. But for us, with all that we have seen, the miracle is exactly what we are expecting. His provision has been incredible already, but He knows who else is to partner with us as well as the amount that we need.
I would simply ask you to pray with us if you are reading this. Please cry out with us for God to do this in such a way that only He can receive the praise and adoration for!!!!
